This Reskit set completes a model under construction with Mk.83 bombs in the MAU-91 configuration, in the variant with a protective thermal layer. The four pieces come from the name of the item. It is not a standalone aircraft model but parts that are hung on a finished airframe at the very end of the work.
The layer applied to the casing is meant to delay the moment at which the filling heats up in the event of a fire nearby. It comes into its own above all where ordnance is stored and moved in a confined space. For the modeler it is interesting because it changes the texture of the surface: instead of a smooth varnish, a fine grain is felt under the finger, which can be imitated on a model.
The easiest way is to spray a primer, let it cure thoroughly and only then apply the covering shade from a greater distance, so that the paint grains slightly. A dry brush then draws the texture out into the light. The difference against the smooth bombs beside it will be apparent even in an ordinary photograph taken for a collection.
Degrease the parts before applying paint and let them dry thoroughly. Keep the suspension lugs on the upper side clean; the bomb will then sit on the carrier more precisely and without play.
