An injection-molded plastic model of the American fighter Curtiss P-40B/C Warhawk in 1:72 scale from Trumpeter. The set captures the early version of the machine, which the British operated under the designation Tomahawk. The box contains plastic parts including clear cockpit parts and a decal sheet for several finishes.
The Curtiss P-40 was one of the key American fighters of the early Second World War. The early P-40B and P-40C versions were powered by the liquid-cooled Allison V-1710 V12 and, compared with the first series, received heavier armor and self-sealing fuel tanks. It was aircraft of this early series that were made famous by the American volunteer group the Flying Tigers fighting over China, whose hallmark was the shark mouth painted on the nose.
Glue the plastic parts with liquid modeling cement for plastic and fill and sand the joints if needed. Apply a primer before painting and lay the paints on with an airbrush in thin coats; the camouflage and striking markings (the shark mouth, for example) are best masked or handled with decals. Pick out the panel lines with a fine wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
