An unassembled plastic kit of the German fighters Fw 190D-9 and D-11 in 1:72 scale, according to the name with two versions in one box.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190D was the late development stage of the well-known German fighter. Its original radial engine was replaced by the liquid-cooled inverted V12 Jumo 213, which lengthened both the nose and the rear fuselage and gave the aircraft the name long-nose. The D-9 version was the most numerous of the whole line, while the D-11 was built in only small numbers and differed in its armament.
The Platzschutzstaffel was a small unit of the JV 44 formation. Its task was to cover the formation's jet aircraft during take-off and landing, that is at the moments when they were most vulnerable. The aircraft of this unit tend to be associated with a conspicuously striped underside, which was meant to make it easier for friendly anti-aircraft defenses to recognize a friendly aircraft. Which schemes and decals are in the box is given in the manufacturer's instructions.
The 2 in 1 designation in the name refers to two versions, the D-9 and the D-11. How the parts are laid out is detailed in the instructions. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted. In 1:72 scale the parts are small, so separate them with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest gently. Mask the clear parts before spraying. The bold stripes on the underside call for careful masking, and if you get them as decals, apply them onto a smooth gloss base.
The set will please collectors of German fighters in 1:72 scale as well as modelers attracted by the less common D-11 version. Paints, glue and filler are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
