About product

A refueling team on deck, scene variant 2

The second group of poses from the range of deck fuel handlers in 1:72 scale. It differs from the scene 1 variant in the spacing and gestures of the figures, so the two packages can be put together into one continuous situation around a single aircraft. The set goes with models of modern carrier machines.

The second variant of the scene

Refueling goes on in short windows between launches and recoveries. The hose runs from the deck outlet to the aircraft, one member of the team works the valve and the other watches the coupling. Other groups with different tasks are moving about around them at the same time, and that is why activity on deck practically never stops. Anyone who wants that atmosphere in a diorama needs figures concentrating on the work, not posing for the camera.

Shades on deck

The deck is dark and worn, which gives the figures contrast by itself. So keep the color of the overalls clean and do not tone the saturated shades down with a wash over the whole area, otherwise the figures will sink into the surface behind them. Put dust only on the footwear and on the lower part of the trouser legs. Fill the helmets and protective gear in with a contrasting color, so that they read from a distance.

Who it is for

  • modelers putting together a longer deck scene
  • display cabinets with modern naval subjects
  • those who already have the first variant of the scene
  • builders in the smaller scales who want life around a model
  • scenes of a machine being prepared for its next flight

The machinery and the base of the scene have to be supplied from other sources.

FAQ

You do not, this group works on its own. Together, though, they make a larger and livelier scene.

Best of all modern carrier aircraft in 1:72 and sections of a flight deck. The poses match work with a fuel hose.

The dark non-slip surface of a deck makes good contrast. The figures then need no further darkening and stay legible.

Yes. In this scale a base, a fine shadow and a light edge are enough. Detailed drawing of the face would not show anyway.
