Injection-molded plastic kit of the Short Stirling Mk.III in 1:72 scale from Italeri: a British four-engine heavy bomber of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British four-engine heavy bomber Short Stirling Mk.III in 1:72 scale from Italeri. This is a large model of a big aircraft, so it is worth planning the build in sections: fuselage, wings, engine nacelles, landing gear. Boxings of this type are usually supplemented with photo-etched parts and decals for several versions; check the exact contents and the number of parts against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Short Stirling was the first British four-engine heavy bomber to enter service in the Second World War. It was notable for its tall landing gear and its large airframe; its ceiling, however, was limited by the relatively short wingspan. The Mk.III version received more powerful engines and a modified upper turret. Besides bombing raids the Stirling later also served for towing gliders, for airborne operations and for special tasks.
Glue the parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and build the large model in sections. Paint the interior and the gunners' positions before the fuselage is closed up, and mask the clear glazing and the turrets. Assemble the tall landing gear and the four engine nacelles carefully. Apply a primer, spray the paints with an airbrush, apply the decals over a gloss coat and emphasize the panel lines with a wash; discreet wear suits night bombers.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
