A set of colored three-dimensional decals for the interior of the British flying boat Short Sunderland Mk I/II in 1:72 scale. It is intended for the Special Hobby kit.

The real subject

The Sunderland was a four-engined flying boat with a hull shaped like a ship's boat that served RAF Coastal Command in the Second World War. It flew long patrols over the Atlantic, hunted submarines and escorted convoys. Inside it was more a ship than an aircraft: the hull had two decks, crew stations, bunks and even a galley, because a sortie lasted many hours. That is exactly why its interior is a rewarding one for modelers and why it is visible through the glazing and the openings in the hull.

What the set contains

Colored interior elements with raised relief, that is the instrument panel, the side panels and other internal surfaces. The dials, scales and lettering are rendered in color, so you do not have to paint them by hand. The exact extent of the sheet is given by the manufacturer in the instructions.

Application tips

• Before applying them, check the instructions for how the elements are fixed; the method of application differs from range to range with Kelik and the manufacturer's instructions are what counts.
• Varnish the surface first, let it dry thoroughly and degrease it, as the elements hold only on a smooth, clean area.
• Pick the elements up with tweezers, settle them dry and press them down with a soft tool so that they seat into the corners too.
• On a large hull, work out beforehand what will be visible once it is glued together and start from the least accessible places.

Who it is for

For a modeler who wants the inside of the Sunderland finished quickly and without painting tiny dials. This is an accessory for a kit, not the kit itself.
