This plastic kit in 1:72 scale captures the British torpedo biplane Vickers Vildebeest in the Mk.IV version. The model presents an archaic-looking yet combat-deployed aircraft from the turn of the interwar and wartime eras.
The Vickers Vildebeest was an interwar British single-engine torpedo biplane. It first flew in 1928 and reached the RAF from 1933. The Mk.IV version received a Bristol Perseus engine with sleeve-valve gear and a three-blade metal propeller. Although it was already obsolete by the time of its deployment, it took part in the fighting of the RAF and the RNZAF in the defense of Malaya and Singapore in 1941 and 1942, where it suffered heavy losses.
Use liquid modeling cement on the plastic. On a biplane, pay attention to the correct seating of the interplane struts; tensioning the wire bracing (rigging) gives the model realism. Apply a primer before painting. Interwar and wartime schemes offer interesting combinations of national markings and camouflage.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
