An injection-molded plastic kit of the legendary Willys Jeep light utility car in the airborne version for the British forces, in 1:72 scale from Airfix. The model captures the lightened vehicle adapted for carriage by glider and for airborne operations. The box holds a decal sheet and assembly instructions.
The Willys MB (Jeep) was a multi-purpose light car with all-wheel drive that became a symbol of the Allied armies of the Second World War. The British airborne forces used lightened and modified cars that fitted into transport gliders and were dropped with the airborne troops. After landing they served for reconnaissance and liaison, for towing light guns and as machine gun carriers. Thanks to their compactness and durability they proved themselves in every theater.
Clean the flash off the small Jeep parts carefully, because every detail is clearly visible in 1:72 scale. Paint the interior, the seats and the instrument panel before you close the body up. The base is British khaki (SCC 15 Olive Drab is a common choice, but check the shade against the subject); a dark wash brings out the folds of the tarpaulin and the details, and a dry brush picks out the edges. Mud and dust pigments on the chassis and the tires give it the convincing look of field service.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
