The LCM3 landing craft with a Sherman medium tank in 1:76 scale. The pair of plastic models is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
Responsibility details are not available.
The LCM3 was an American landing craft for vehicles, that is a boat whose only job was to carry a vehicle from a ship right onto the beach. The cargo space was closed by a hinged bow ramp down which the vehicle drove straight onto the shore. The Sherman was the most widely used Allied medium tank of the Second World War, and together with the craft it makes up a scene everyone associates with a landing.
Two injection-molded plastic models in 1:76 scale: the landing craft and the tank. The models are supplied unassembled and unpainted, and paints and glue have to be bought separately. The exact range of parts and decals is given in the instructions and on the packaging.
The hull of the craft is made up of large panels that are best glued together in one go and left to cure properly, so that the sides do not spread apart. Paint the inside of the cargo space before you fit the ramp, as a brush will not reach in there afterwards. Suggest the waterline and the water stains at the very end, ideally with thinned dark paint drawn from top to bottom. On the tank, leave the lower hull and the tracks dusty and the upper surfaces cleaner.
The set is for builders of dioramas on a landing theme and for collectors of vehicles in a scale close to the OO railway gauge. A boat and a vehicle together give a scene the action and the sense of scale that a model on its own never shows, and it still fits into a small space. A base, water and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
