A replacement underwing fuel tank of 610 gallons for F-15J and F-15DJ models in 1:48 scale. A kit accessory.
Responsibility details are not available.
The F-15 is an American twin-engined fighter with a high-set wing and a pair of vertical tails. The J and DJ designations belong to machines of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, the single-seat and the two-seat one. The underwing fuel tank of 610 gallons is part of their usual fit: it carries fuel outside the fuselage and extends the range without taking up the pylons meant for armament. On a model it is a large, striking shape that changes the whole silhouette of the machine.
The set brings a replacement tank in 1:48 scale. It is used where the body is to have a smoother surface and cleaner transitions than a part made up of two halves, because the seam along the whole length falls away.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little off the part and sand the remainder so that the shape of the tank itself is not touched. Wash and degrease the part before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the surface. Make a dry test before gluing so that the tank sits in line with the machine and is not twisted. Then leave the joint to cure undisturbed, because cyanoacrylate glue holds firmly but at the start bears only a small load. It is painted separately while the part is still loose.
This is an accessory set for building a model. Paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
