Revell 85 Brown is a synthetic enamel paint on a solvent base, supplied in the classic metal tin with a volume of 14 ml. The shade corresponds to RAL 8023 and has a flat finish. It is not an acrylic paint and it is not water-thinnable - it is thinned with Revell Color Mix, or with mineral spirits. Revell enamel paints do not attack the surface of modeling plastic and can be applied with a brush as well as an airbrush. Note: this is a modeling paint, not a kit.
The three browns are worth keeping apart: 85 Brown is the neutral, saturated ordinary brown for objects; 86 Olive Brown is shifted toward green and aims at military vehicles and uniforms; 87 Earth Brown is a gray earth tone and serves mainly for mud and weathering. If you are painting a thing (a crate, a strap, a stock), reach for 85. If you are painting dirt, reach for 87.
Stir the paint thoroughly before use - the pigment settles to the bottom. Apply two thin coats rather than one thick one, and for an airbrush thin it with Revell Color Mix. Earth shades are the basis for weathering - combine them with a wash and a dry brush, and never stop at a flat coat. Clean brushes with enamel cleaner, not with water.
For modelers of military vehicles, figures and dioramas and for builders of historical models who want a dependable basic brown in enamel.
Safety: a flammable liquid. It irritates the airways - work in a well-ventilated space and use respiratory protection when spraying. Keep out of the reach of children and away from sources of ignition. This is not a product for small children.
