The FAB-500M-54 high-explosive bomb in 1:72 is a 3D-printed armament set for models of Soviet and Russian aircraft. It adds to the stores of a finished kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
An add-on set in 1:72 scale from the Russian manufacturer Temp Models. It holds a high-explosive aerial bomb of the 500 kilogram class in the 1954 pattern, printed from photopolymer. The set is meant to be hung under a finished model and does not make up an aircraft model on its own.
The FAB-500M-54 is a high-explosive aerial bomb of the 500 kilogram class to the 1954 pattern. It has a thick-walled body and a fairly short, blunt shape, which sets it clearly apart from the later, aerodynamically cleaner M-62 pattern intended for faster carriers. It works above all by blast against buildings, fortifications and massed equipment, and it ranked among the basic armament of Soviet tactical aircraft.
The parts are printed from photopolymer, so thin print supports are left on them. Cut them away with a sharp scalpel or photo-etch nippers and sand the pad they leave with fine abrasive paper. They are glued with cyanoacrylate glue, that is with super glue, because polystyrene cement has no effect on this material. Lay down a filler primer before painting; it will at the same time reveal any remains of the supports. Sanding is best done wet and with respiratory protection.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and the base model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
