AFV Fantasy Color Bloody Red - a spray paint from Vallejo

An aerosol spray from the paint range of the Spanish brand Vallejo, listed under the shade name Bloody Red. It is not a bottled paint or a concentrate; the contents are a finished pressurized paint that is laid on straight from the can and is not thinned. The line offers several red shades as separate items; what exactly sets them apart cannot be worked out from the names, so compare the tone against the maker's color chart.

Use

• Hold the can about 20 to 25 cm from the part. From a greater distance the paint dries in flight and the surface comes out coarse, while from a shorter one runs form quickly.
• A deep red tone is prone to uneven coverage across edges and engraving. Build the color up in several thin passes, not in one heavy application.
• Let the surface set between coats, so that the solvent from the previous coat has time to evaporate. Layering in haste is the main cause of wrinkling.
• Turn the model, not the hand with the spray, because it is easier to hold a steady angle and a steady distance that way.
• Do not put a run right at once. Let it dry, sand it smooth and spray over it.
• Shake the can again and again during the work, because the pigment settles to the bottom in an aerosol too.
