Decal Fixer from Green Stuff World is a liquid that prepares the surface of a model for a decal. It is applied to the spot where the decal will be laid, that is BEFORE it is put down. It contains substances that slightly soften the surface of the finish and at the same time strengthen the grip of the decal, which then holds more firmly, conforms better to the shape and does not develop the typical glossy silvered frame around it. It comes in a dropper bottle of 17 ml.
What it is and what it is not: Decal Fixer is a setting solution (a setter), not a decal softener. A softener is applied onto a decal that is already down and literally softens it so that it sucks into engraved lines and rivets; the manufacturer offers that as a separate product. Decal Fixer is also not a varnish, a cement for plastic or a thinner. The two products can be used together: first the fixer on the surface, then the decal, and only then a softener if needed.
For modelers building aircraft, vehicles and figures alike, wherever decals matter. It helps most with large, thin decals and on parts where the markings must not look like a stuck-on piece of paper.
Safety: use in a well-ventilated room, do not breathe in the fumes, avoid contact with the eyes and the skin. Keep out of the reach of children. Close the bottle carefully after use.
