A themed set of Model Color acrylic paints aimed at fire, glowing embers and flames. Part of the fantasy section of the Vallejo range.
Responsibility details are not available.
Fantasy Color Series is the group of sets with which Vallejo covers the individual themes of figure and gaming modeling. This one is devoted to fire: it contains the shades with which a flame is painted from its hottest core to its cooling edge, along with smoldering embers, red-hot metal and the magical effects that come out of fire. The basis is the Model Color line, that is matte acrylic paints intended mainly for a brush.
Fire does not have one color. In the middle it is almost white, around that lies yellow, further out orange, and at the edge a red passing into dark. Anyone who paints a flame in a single shade gets an orange patch; anyone who lays the shades in order from the lightest inside outward gets fire. That is exactly why themed sets make sense: the shades in them follow on from one another and the modeler does not have to mix the transition tones laboriously.
On figures of wizards and fire creatures, on dragons, on bases with lava or smoldering debris, on torches, forges and on weapons that are meant to look red-hot. It is usable outside fantasy as well, for example on a model with a burning wreck or on a diorama with a smithy.
Model Color is a water-based acrylic line with strongly covering, finely ground pigmentation and a matte finish. The paints can be thinned with water or with an acrylic thinner, they mix with one another without restriction and they take an airbrush too if they are thinned enough. The bottles close with a dropper, which allows measuring drop by drop and mixing ratios that can then be repeated at any time.
