Gunze Mr.Color Gold (metallic)

A metallic gold shade from the Mr.Color lacquer range by GSI Creos. It is a solvent-based (lacquer) paint with a fine metallic pigment, in a 10 ml bottle. It is neither an acrylic nor an enamel; the chemistry is lacquer.

Use

  • The metallic pigment settles at the bottom, so stir the paint thoroughly before use.
  • It looks best over a smooth surface, ideally a gloss and dark one; it is applied with an airbrush in thin coats.
  • It is thinned with lacquer thinner, ideally of the Leveling type.
  • Metallics are harder to overspray and mask, so as a rule apply them as one of the last coats.

For modelers who need gold metal details, decorative surfaces or ornamental features with a realistic sheen.

A flammable liquid with irritating fumes. Work in a well-ventilated space and use a respirator while spraying. Do not thin with water.

Lacquer thinner. This is a lacquer paint, so neither water nor acrylic thinner is used.

The metallic pigment in metallics settles at the bottom; without stirring the coverage is uneven.

Best over a smooth, gloss and darker surface, where the metallic effect stands out.
