A resin Kh-23 air-to-ground guided missile in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The set is printed in resin and holds the missile itself, that is armament to be hung under the wing of a finished model. It is neither an aircraft kit nor a part of one.
The Kh-23 is a Soviet tactical air-to-ground missile from the end of the 1960s in which the pilot himself did the steering. The guidance commands were sent by radio and the pilot had to follow the missile with his eyes and steer it manually to the target, much as one flies a model. It was a system demanding in training and in composure in the cockpit, because the aircraft meanwhile had to hold a straight course. Its arrival nevertheless meant that a single-engined attack aircraft could for the first time hit a point target with one missile.
Release the body of the missile from the supports on a working surface and without bending it; long parts bend easily. Sand the marks with fine paper, wet and with respiratory protection. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting. The tracking flare in the tail, by which the pilot followed the missile, can be suggested with a drop of clear paint. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
