A resin set of landing gear wheels for a model of the Su-27 fighter in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. Printing in resin makes it possible to render the tread pattern, the lettering on the sidewalls and the detailed hub more sharply than a split plastic mold can manage. It is not a kit but replacement parts that are fitted in place of the wheels from the box.
The Su-27 is a heavy twin-engined fighter with a nose wheel under the cockpit and two main landing gear legs that retract into the fuselage. For its size the machine has fairly small wheels, because it was built for paved runways, and the tires therefore carry a high pressure and deform visibly on the ground. The ground crew checked the wheels regularly, because landing a heavy aircraft is demanding for them.
Release the parts from the supports with a scalpel and sand the spot left by the support, so that the wheel sits square. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray the hubs separately and then go over the tire with a dark gray shade; pure black looks unnatural at this scale. A light touch of dust suits the tread, best applied with pigment.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
