Landing gear bay doors for the Su-33 in 1:48 scale are a 3D-printed resin accessory from Temp Models.
Responsibility details are not available.
A resin set of landing gear bay doors for a model of the Su-33 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The plastic doors from a kit tend to be too thick for the scale and smooth inside, which shows at once on a model with the landing gear down. Printing in resin manages the small thickness and the internal ribbing. It is not an aircraft kit but replacement parts.
The Su-33 launches from a deck over a ski-jump ramp and lands on arrestor wires, so its landing gear is strengthened and differs from the land-based version. The shape of the bay doors goes with that. On a deck the equipment is also permanently exposed to salt spray, so the inner faces of the doors tend to be grimy and showing signs of corrosion, which is a rewarding motif for weathering.
Release the parts from the supports with a new blade over a working surface. Remove the original plastic doors and smooth the recesses left behind. Wash the resin in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Spray and weather the inner face separately, and only then fit the door with cyanoacrylate glue. Choose weathering more toward gray than brown.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
