A Vallejo acrylic model paint from the Premium Color line in a fluorescent magenta shade. A fluorescent pigment turns part of the invisible ultraviolet radiation into visible light. In daylight the shade therefore looks as though it were glowing by itself, and under an ultraviolet lamp it lights up in full.
A glowing magenta is not a shade for camouflage but for areas that are meant to be seen. It finds a use on warning and signal panels, on railway signals, on racing and design finishes, on models of present-day equipment with reflective features, and in work that plays with light, that is on figures, dioramas and fantasy subjects.
Fluorescent paints have a lower covering power by their very nature, so apply them over a light ground. A white base coat is the surest way to get the full glow, as over a gray or dark ground the shade goes gray. Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, the pigment settles. Apply several thin coats and let them dry between each other, as one heavy coat will leave blotches. It is worth covering the finished area with varnish, because fluorescent pigments fade over time in direct sunlight. Better not to display the model in a window.
This is the paint on its own. The model, a base paint, thinner and varnish are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
