Stirring bars for the modeling bench. They serve one single but crucial task: mixing the contents of a bottle properly before it is applied. In paints and weathering products the pigment settles on the bottom while it stands and only the binder is left above it. Anyone who merely shakes such a bottle lays on a material with a different coverage and shade from the one the product is meant to have; with metallic paints and pigment suspensions the difference shows immediately. A stirring bar reaches right to the bottom and really breaks up the sediment.

Use

• Push the bar right to the bottom of the bottle and free the settled pigment with a circular movement; only then shake the bottle.
• With metallic paints and pigment compounds, stir more thoroughly and again during longer work, because the pigment keeps settling to the bottom.
• It also comes in useful for mixing two-part fillers and terrain pastes and for measuring out a small amount of paint onto a palette.
• Wipe or rinse the bar right after use while the material is still wet; dried residue would be carried over into the next bottle.
• It is practical to set aside one bar for each type of material, so that the shades do not contaminate one another.

Who they are for

For anyone who works with bottled paints, washes, pigments or pastes, that is practically for the whole modeling bench. They make the greatest difference for people who spray with an airbrush, because paint that is not properly mixed is one of the common causes of an uneven spray and a blocked nozzle.
