MT-503 Mr.Waterproof Sand Paper offers a fine 1000 grit in a version made for working under water; the pack holds 24 sheets from Gunze.
Responsibility details are not available.
The finer step in the waterproof sanding range from Gunze. A 1000 grit no longer removes material, it mainly smooths. It comes in at the moment when the shape is finished and only the quality of the surface matters, so typically after primer, between coats of clear and anywhere a coarser paper would leave a visible pattern.
The best results come when you wet the paper and work the surface in short crosswise strokes rather than always in one direction. A circular motion leaves a swirl that shows up under gloss. Steady pressure matters more than speed. Go carefully over edges and rivets, because this is where detail is lost most easily. Change the water in the dish whenever you feel sludge in it, since loose particles otherwise get caught under the paper and cut scratches. Choose the grit by what the previous step left behind: as long as the scratches are visible to the naked eye a coarser step still comes first and the 1000 only after it. Wash the sanding slurry off with water before painting and let the surface dry.
Builders of cars, aircraft and figures who paint to a high gloss and need a perfectly prepared surface between primer and color. It is worth keeping on hand together with the neighboring grits of the same range.
This is a consumable abrasive with no accessories. No holder or sanding block is enclosed.
