Pale Flesh — an AK interactive acrylic paint, the Artistic Dense line

Pale Flesh is a light, pale flesh shade. In a flesh range it stands at the opposite end from the warm golden tones: it is used mainly on highlights, on the highest points of a face and hands, on light skin and on figures whose skin is to look cool or unhealthy. It is an acrylic paint thinnable with water, not a lacquer or an enamel.

Use

• Highlights on flesh: the forehead, the bridge of the nose, the cheekbones, the chin, the knuckles. Apply them in the last steps and over a small area — the smaller the highlight, the more pronounced the impression of modeling.
• Mixing a flesh range of your own. By adding Pale Flesh to a warmer base you create a smooth transition from shadow to the highest highlight with no jump.
• Layering: a light shade over a darker base calls for patience. Several thin, thinned layers give a cleaner result than one thick one, which clogs the detail.
• Flatness and varnish: flesh should look flat on a figure. If you varnish the model, choose a matte varnish; gloss on a face disturbs the impression more than on a vehicle.
• Keeping the bottle: light shades quickly go to waste through dried paint in the neck. Wipe the rim, close the bottle at once and shake it honestly before every use.

Who it is for

For painters of figures and miniatures who build flesh from several shades and need a reliable light tone for finishing. The line is aimed at the small format and at work with a brush, and a separate medium and a drying retarder are available for it, which help when joining transitions. The volume of the package, the covering power and an equivalent according to RAL or FS are not stated here.
