Revell Precision Cutter — a precise nipper

A modeling tool from Revell intended for separating plastic parts precisely from the sprue (the gate). The cutting edge allows a clean cut close to the part, so that only a minimal burr is left after nipping, and a light cleanup is enough. A spring joint returns the jaws to the open position and makes repeated work easier. Separating parts by twisting or tearing them off the sprue does not pay off — it often breaks a piece out of the part or whitens the material where it is stressed. A clean cut with a nipper is therefore the first step to a good model.

Use

• separating plastic parts from the sprue without stressing and cracking them
• first nip the part off with a small piece of the gate, then trim the rest in two steps
• make the cut with the flat side toward the part, then level the rest of the gate with a knife or a file
• suitable for softer modeling plastics; do not force the tool onto hard metal or wire
• wipe the cutting edge after use and keep it clean and dry

Good to know

You will appreciate the nipper above all on newer, finely engineered kits where the parts matter. The cutting edge is fine, so protect the tool from being dropped and do not use it as a universal plier for wire or metal — you would needlessly blunt or chip it.
