A resin figure of a French bearer of the royal banner from the middle of the 13th century. The manufacturer, the Polish brand PANZER ART, lists it in the 75 mm line under the manufacturer's part number FI75-038; the height of 75 mm is the governing dimension. It is a collector's figure for hand painting, not a kit of a machine.
The Oriflamme was the sacred war banner of the French kings: red to orange-red silk on a gilded lance. It was kept in the abbey of Saint-Denis near Paris and was taken as a sign of divine favor. The bearer of the banner, the porte-oriflamme, held a court office on the level of a marshal or a constable. The raised banner made it known that no prisoners were to be taken until the bearer lowered it. In the 13th century it accompanied the seventh crusade of Louis IX in 1248, where it was lost; earlier it had appeared at Bouvines in 1214.
Wash the parts first in warm water with dish soap so that the remains of the mold release agent from the mold disappear. Cut off the casting blocks and sand the surfaces with respiratory protection. Resin bonds reliably only with super glue; ordinary cement for plastic will not join it. A primer is a must. At a size of 75 mm layering with a brush pays off: the face is the main surface, and fabric and metal are painted separately. The large surface of the banner will take fine heraldic painting and shading of the folds.
The figure is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
