The AH-64 Apache is an American attack helicopter with a two-seat tandem cockpit and with its armament divided between a 30 mm cannon under the forward fuselage and pylons on the stub wings. The AH-64E Guardian version is its current form: it received more powerful engines, a strengthened transmission, new main rotor blades and equipment for working with unmanned aircraft. From the outside it differs from the older Apaches only in details, but inside it is a marked step forward.
The item is listed as a plastic kit in 1:48. A helicopter this size comes out as a substantial piece for the display case, and there is enough room in it for fine detail of the cockpit and the pylons. It is supplied as a set of parts to be assembled; the contents of the package and the building sequence are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Mask the cockpit glazing before spraying, otherwise traces of paint are hard to remove from clear surfaces. Leave the rotor blades aside until the last moment and fit them only after the fuselage has been painted. The dark finish that goes with attack helicopters easily swallows detail, so apply the paint in thin coats and bring out the edges and hatches with a lighter shade or a dark wash.
The kit is for modelers of contemporary aircraft who want a helicopter in a manageable scale in their collection. Paints, glue and thinner are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
