Sand Yellow is an acrylic paint from the Vallejo Model Air range. The shade matches its name: a light sand yellow, that is, the typical desert and earth tone used both on large camouflage areas and for lightening darker earth colors. The binder is acrylic and water-thinnable, so it is thinned with acrylic thinner, never with lacquer thinner. It comes in a dropper bottle with a capacity of 17 ml. Beware of confusion: an identical or similar-sounding name is also carried by paints from other brands and by another range from the same manufacturer — this item is Vallejo Model Air.
Light yellow and sand shades generally cover less well than dark colors, because their pigments are less intensely colored. Do not try to solve that with one thick coat — it floods the engraved lines and dries to an uneven sheen. Apply three or four genuinely thin coats with a short pause between them and let the color build up gradually. A light undercoat makes the job much easier: over a white or light gray primer you reach the full shade considerably sooner than over a black one.
