A turquoise metallic tone for figure painters and modelers. Vallejo True Metallic Metal Set, Hydra Turquoise offers a whole family of shades together.
Responsibility details are not available.
Turquoise lies between blue and green, and in a metallic register it brings to mind oxidized copper or a wet scale. Vallejo has worked it into the True Metallic Metal range so that it keeps a metallic sparkle even at full saturation. The shade is therefore usable both on living creatures and on surfaces that are to look as though they had lain under water for a long time.
The paints are built as a following trio: the full tone covers the area, the darkening deepens the detail and the brighter version lights up the highest points. The darkening component is translucent and glossier, so the surface stays alive even after it is applied. The sediment at the bottom has to be stirred in, otherwise the tone comes out weak and uneven. On scales it works well to paint the tone area by area and only then unify the whole with a thin layer of shadow, which ties the transitions together.
Painters of monsters and fantasy creatures, builders of water dioramas and anyone who needs a metallic turquoise without having to mix it laboriously on a palette.
