Unguided S-25OF rocket in 1:72 (Temp Models)

A resin heavy unguided S-25OF aircraft rocket in 1:72 scale from the Russian brand Temp Models. The resin print manages the long body and the deployed tail fins in one piece. It is not an aircraft model but a separate store to be hung under the wing of a finished model.

The real subject

The S-25 series ranks among the heaviest aircraft rockets of all and is carried singly in a launch tube under the wing, not in a pod like small rockets. The individual versions differ in the warhead: those marked with the letters OF have a high-explosive fragmentation filling, so besides splinters they also work by blast. The weapon was used against positions and equipment, where a single hit covers a larger area than a salvo of small rockets.

Building and painting tips

Release the long rocket body from the supports on a flat work mat so that it does not bow. Sand the marks down with fine paper and wet sand, with respiratory protection. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Check the tail fins against the light to see whether they are twisted. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue).
