A package of shades from the aircraft line for British machines of the years 1939 to 1945, land-based and carrier-borne alike. It aims at both branches of the camouflage regulations of the time.
Responsibility details are not available.
British aircraft camouflage was divided during the war into two branches that look completely different. Machines operating over the islands and over Europe carried a brown-and-green or gray-and-green segmented pattern on the upper surfaces and a light underside, whereas the aircraft of the Fleet Air Arm had darker, cooler, gray-blue tones built against the sea. The set is named so as to cover both, which is why the modeler will find both the earthy tones and the naval grays in it.
It is used on an assembled and filled airframe after the joints have been filled. The light underside goes first, drawn over the edges of the wing, then the upper surfaces are divided into two tones with a mask or freehand, and finally the transition is tuned. The set is built for spraying, so the pattern can be done with a soft edge the way the British workshops really did it. The cockpit, the landing gear bays and the insides of the covers are painted separately.
Shades for the cockpit, for the metal exhaust areas and for rubber tires cannot be expected in it; those are bought separately. The same goes for decals and masks for the glazing, without which even the best spraying will not do. Individual bottles of the same line are sold by the piece, so the palette is extended gradually according to which machine comes to the table.
