U-STAR Etch Slide Change Parts 22 is an accessory set of photo-etched detail parts for plastic models. The elements are cut off the fret and glued onto a model; the set itself holds no model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This photo-etched set from the manufacturer U-STAR belongs among the accessories with which a modeler raises the level of detail beyond the contents of the box. In the package there is a fret with small etched elements; these are cut out of the frame and glued onto a plastic surface. The set is universal, it is not tied to a particular kit or scale, and it is used most often on robots and sci-fi equipment. The number in the name tells the individual variants within the range apart.
Photo-etched parts behave differently from plastic. A smooth metal surface does not hold paint on its own, so a base coat is a compulsory step and not an optional one. Apply it in thin layers, so that the fine edges are not flooded. If you want to leave a part in a metallic shine, protect it from glue and fingerprints and finally cover it with clear varnish. The combination of matte-painted plastic and one glossy metal element works as a natural accent, but that holds only as long as there are not too many such elements.
Separate the parts with a scalpel against a hard surface and not with shears, as the fret would otherwise twist. Degrease the surface before gluing and try the position dry. Dose cyanoacrylate glue with a pin, as a drop from the tube is too large for such a small part, and rather let any excess harden and trim it off; smeared glue leaves a matte mark on the surface that shows under varnish.
This is an accessory set. The model, glue and paints are not included in the package.
