The photo-etched F-100F air brake 1:32 set refines the air brake on a model of the two-seat North American F-100F Super Sabre. It is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for a model.

This set of photo-etched parts is intended for building up the air brake on an F-100F Super Sabre model in 1:32 scale. On the real aircraft the brake panel is a thin panel with visible internal stiffening and mechanism; in injection-molded plastic it tends to be simplified and in the open position it looks too bulky. Thin photo-etched sheet deals with that inaccuracy and makes it possible to build the model with the brake swung open, as the aircraft is commonly shown on the ramp.
The F-100 Super Sabre was the first production aircraft of the US Air Force able to exceed the speed of sound in straight flight. The F-100F version is a two-seater, with two seats one behind the other; it was created for training and was later used in other specialized roles as well. The air brake located on the lower part of the fuselage helped to control speed on the approach and in the descent.
Cut the parts out close to the tab and sand the edge down on a glass surface. Make the bends in a bender or over a steel rule, gradually and without levering. Degrease the metal with alcohol and lay on a thin primer, or the paint will not hold on the smooth sheet. Apply cyanoacrylate with a pin in small drops. Finish and paint the brake bay before you fit the panel itself onto it; a gentle wash at the end will pull out the structure of the stiffeners. Fit the open brake right at the very end, so that it does not get broken off during the rest of the handling.
