The warm golden tone is the color of grain just before the harvest and of grass that the sun has burned all summer. The material is natural fiber 5.08 cm long, as the manufacturer's data says, and the whole bag weighs 8 g. Compared with the straw shade from the same line this one is deeper and noticeably warmer, which shows mainly over larger areas.
Grain fields, margins between plots, embankments along tracks and dusty ditches are its home. It also works well as a transition between tilled soil and greenery, because the golden color visually links the two areas. In winter and fall scenes it suits last year's grass showing through snow or mud. Alternating two close warm shades always looks better over a large area than a single color. The transitions between them need not be smooth; in a real landscape the shade changes abruptly along the line of a furrow.
The bundle is divided into thin strands, these are aligned by tapping them against a table top, and the bottom end is dipped in glue. After planting into the surface the glue is left to set, and only then is the top of the tuft leveled with scissors. Do not skimp on the leveling, tufts of unequal height are exactly what tells a believable field from a carpet. A few taller stalks left in an otherwise trimmed area give the scene its sense of size.
