A modeling paint by Hataka from the Orange Line range. The shade is called Field Green, and the manufacturer gives three references for it at once: FS 34095, ANA 627 and RAL 6003. Each of those numbers belongs to a different system. FS is the American federal color reference, ANA is the older American aircraft designation and RAL is the European reference, which is used outside aviation as well. A trio of references on a single bottle means that the manufacturer claims a match with the originals of several standards at once, so the shade can be compared across paint brands.
Stir the bottle thoroughly before use; the pigment settles at the bottom and unstirred paint gives a different shade and a different degree of gloss than you expect. Choose thinner and thinning ratio according to the instructions given by the manufacturer on the packaging, so always the thinner intended for this range. Apply in thin coats and let them flash off between each other. A single heavy coat floods the engraving and rounds off the edges you cleaned up so laboriously beforehand. The paint holds best on a washed, degreased and primed surface.
Green shades behave differently over a large area than in the bottle and change visibly with the lighting. It pays to spray a test sample on a spare piece of plastic, let it dry completely and decide only by that. In small scales modelers lighten large areas a little, so that the model does not look heavy.
The paint is supplied on its own. Thinner, primer and clear coat are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
