The Hasegawa finishing file serves for the fine cleaning up of seams, mold seams and the remains of sprue gates on plastic models.
Responsibility details are not available.
A modeling file from the Japanese company Hasegawa intended for the finishing stages of work, that is for the moment when a part is essentially done and it is only a matter of smoothing the surface. Compared with coarse workshop files it has a finer cut, so it removes material more slowly but leaves a smoother surface and does not create deep grooves that would then have to be sanded out laboriously. It is neither a kit nor an accessory for a model but a tool for the modeling bench.
File with short strokes in one direction; back and forth tears the material and damages the surface needlessly. Press minimally on thin-walled parts, as plastic bends easily and a hollow forms that shows only after painting. After filing, finish the surface with abrasive paper of increasing fineness and finally by polishing, as going straight from a file to paint usually shows. Clean a clogged cut with a stiff brush, so that pressed-in plastic does not make scratches. Keep the file dry so that it does not corrode.
For modelers who want cleanly worked seams and smooth transitions, that is for builders of aircraft, military vehicles and cars, where every irregularity shows under a gloss finish. It is useful for working with resin accessories too.
Filing creates fine dust. Work in a well ventilated room, use respiratory protection with resin and metal, and do not blow the dust away.
