The working tip is of high-speed tool steel, a material that holds an edge far longer than ordinary blades, and it is mounted on a swiveling axis. The swiveling tip is the main strength of the tool, because it follows the direction you lead it in and lets you draw a cut or scrape cleanly around a curve and over a curved surface. The body of the tool is roughly 133.5 mm long and about 9 mm in diameter, and the tip section measures approximately 28 mm.
For modelers who want a clean surface with no sanding scratches and are looking for a tool for places where abrasive paper is awkward. Builders of aircraft and cars will appreciate it, that is wherever the joints are on markedly rounded parts and an abrasive sponge easily rounds off an edge that has to be kept.
