For this shade the manufacturer says one single thing, but an important one: it serves to create the effect of spring grass. Light green has its best position in scenery on top, as a fine veil over a darker base. The shaker with a sieve holds 945 cm³, that is 57.7 cubic inches of scatter. The sieve in the closure holds the grains together, so they do not pour out of the shaker uncontrollably.
If the light tone were applied first, the darker layers would swallow it and the work would come to nothing. Applied on top it creates the impression that new grass has settled on old growth, exactly as it looks in April. It shows best on sunlit slopes, on meadows and on the lawns around dwellings. In shaded places it is better used sparingly, as a light color would look illogical there. Under the crowns of trees, on the other hand, it pays off to let the base show through, as spring grass grows only thinly there.
The shaker is held at an angle and tapped with a finger on the side, not on the bottom. The material then comes out in small amounts and can be placed deliberately where the light is to fall. Spread rather less, as more can be added at any time, but removing the excess from a dry area already means doing the work twice. Grains left over are sucked off gently with a straw.
