The sheet carries a print of floor tiles and serves to get a ready floor into an interior scene without the slow drawing and painting of individual tiles. The drawing is printed in one piece, so the joints run on from one another regularly and the area does not look hand-laid. The supplier offers the item as universal, that is, with no tie to one particular scale.
The elements are self-adhesive. They are not soaked in water and no softener is needed for them, because soaking would damage a self-adhesive film beyond repair. The base must be flat, clean and degreased. On a dusty or greasy area the film does not hold and in time it lifts at the corners, which shows more on a floor than anywhere else, because it is looked at from above.
First trace the plan of the room or the area and cut the sheet to it with a sharp blade on a mat, not directly in the scene. Find the direction of the drawing in the joints and line it up with the walls, so that the rows of tiles do not run at an angle. Lay the film on from one edge and press it gradually toward the opposite one, so that no air closes under it. At thresholds and skirtings leave a small overhang and cut it off only once it has been pressed down. Add dirt and footmarks at the very end with dry pigments or a glaze in thin layers.
