A collection of accessory sets for a model of the FM-2 carrier fighter in 1:48 scale. Several individual sets of the Big Sin range brought together in one package.
Responsibility details are not available.
The FM-2 is a late form of the Wildcat carrier fighter. It was built away from the parent factory, at a licensee, and was adapted for service on small escort carriers: the machine was lightened and received a taller fin. The Wildcat thus found a second life even at a time when newer types had taken over the main role on the large carriers.
The Big Sin range brings several individual accessory sets for one model together in a common package. You therefore do not have to put the equipment together item by item and get a complete collection of replacement and accessory parts for one kit. Which parts the set covers, which kit it is intended for and in what order the parts are fitted are given in the manufacturer's instructions; go through them in full before the build, because some of the parts are fitted before the fuselage is closed.
The parts are not polystyrene, so they are glued with super glue, and with larger areas epoxy. Cut away the excess material with a sharp blade a little away from the part and carefully sand the rest down so you do not take away from the shape. Before painting, wash and degrease the parts and use a primer, otherwise the paint will not hold on a smooth surface. Always try the fit dry and, where needed, adjust the plastic of the kit; an accessory part tends to be more precise in size than the opening it is meant to go into.
The set contains accessory parts only. The aircraft kit, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
