The name of the shade is the code of the American Federal Standard 595 itself, that is, FS 36293. This standard is useful for modelers precisely because it names a shade by a number and not by a word: the first digit gives the degree of gloss, with a three marking a flat finish, and the group 36 belongs to the gray shades. By the code you can therefore compare the shade across the ranges of different brands and against period paint specifications.
The paint comes from the range of the AMMO of Mig Jimenez brand and is meant for painting plastic models, accessory parts and figures. It is applied with an airbrush or a brush. The thinner and the thinning ratio follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging; use the thinner meant for this line, since swapping it is the most common cause of a grainy surface or poor adhesion.
Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, so that the settled pigment is mixed back through the whole volume. Always try the shade on a piece of scrap plastic, not straight onto the model; flat shades moreover look different once dry than they do in the bottle. Apply two thin coats with a short pause between them, which gives an even surface more reliably than one heavy coat. The paint settles more evenly over a primer coat, which shows most with light shades.
The thinner, the primer and the varnish are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise. The volume of the package is given in the manufacturer's description.
