The limewash with which German equipment was repainted in winter never held for long. Rain washed it off, a branch or a mechanic's boot scraped it away, and after a few weeks the original finish showed through in irregular areas. This quartet offers two ways of creating such a state, and that is why the manufacturer describes it as two solutions in one package.
The first way is made up of a pair of ordinary paints. Panzer Dunkelgrau Base matches the shade Dunkelgrau No. 46, which was used from the middle of 1937 and from the middle of 1940 to the beginning of 1943 served as the base tone of most German armor. Traffic White to RAL 9016 is the white for the impression of a freshly applied winter finish that has not yet had time to wear.
The second way rests on a pair that works together chemically. MK-7 Temporary White is a white with a special formula intended directly for the technique of controlled removal, and Paint Exfoliation Activator is an odorless medium that activates this white. After it is used, the top layer can be broken up in a controlled way and reveal the tone beneath it exactly where the modeler wants.
The package holds four bottles, that is fewer than the full shade sets of this line, because two of them are a temporary white and an activator rather than colors. The color component is acrylic and is thinned with water.
Count on the fact that the limewash held evenly nowhere. It disappeared fastest where the crew climbed up and down, on the engine decks and around the openings for replenishing ammunition. The activator belongs exactly here, while the vertical armor plates stay white over almost their whole area.
