Knife with a ceramic blade from Model Craft

A cutter that differs from ordinary modeling knives in the material of its edge. The ceramic blade is fixed firmly in the body of the knife, is extended with a button and can be locked at two extension lengths, fifteen and twenty millimeters. Ceramic does not rust, does not conduct electricity, does not spark and keeps its edge many times longer than an ordinary steel blade, so frequent changing of edges falls away. The body of the knife is small and light and is held comfortably in the fingers like a pencil.

Use

• Cutting paper, card, thin films and transparent acetate materials.
• Slicing thin craft foam and soft backing materials for dioramas.
• Working with balsa and thin wooden sheets on ship and aircraft models.
• Cutting out templates and masks, where a steel blade would lose its edge after a few strokes.
• Working around electronics, because ceramic does not conduct current and does not spark.

Who the knife is for

For modelers who cut a lot of paper, film and soft materials and do not want to change a blade every moment, and for anyone bothered by the corrosion of steel edges. It is not a replacement for a scalpel on hard plastic and for cutting away sprue gates, but a companion that takes the load off a steel knife on exactly the materials that blunt steel the fastest. It also serves well away from the modeling bench, that is in art and paper work.

Ceramic is hard but brittle. Do not pry with the knife and do not bend it sideways, as the blade could snap. Withdraw the blade after use, cut away from your body and keep the knife out of the reach of children.
