An eight-part set for German ground vehicles of 1943 to 1945. Three shades of dark yellow, green and brown camouflage tones, a red primer and a washable winter white.
Responsibility details are not available.
At the beginning of 1943 the era of the uniform dark gray ended and German vehicles began to leave the factories in dark yellow. It was not, however, one shade. First a sample sent out to the units applied, after a few weeks the tone was given its own number in the national color standard, and at the close of the war a later variant appeared, noticeably different from the original. It is exactly these three forms of the same color that make up the core of the set.
Onto the dark yellow ground the crews applied olive green and chocolate brown, both in two-color and three-color combinations. The set offers one more green, which according to research replaced the main one when it ran short. It is completed by a red-brown primer, which from 1945 not infrequently became the ground for the camouflage directly, and by a white intended for winter camouflage. The last of these was washable and was applied in haste, so on a model it will take an uneven and worn look.
The paints are not tied to one period or to a single kind of vehicle; they serve just as well on a tank, an armored personnel carrier and an artillery tractor. The thinner, the brushes and the model are not included in the package, and it is worth reckoning with the fact that the dark yellow covers less well than the dark tones and usually needs an extra coat.
