A satin surface is the compromise between matte camouflage and glossy markings. Lifecolor Clear Satin is a clear product with no shade of its own that evens out the surface of a finished model.
Responsibility details are not available.
A clear satin product from the Lifecolor acrylic range. The word Clear in the name means that this is a transparent product with no color of its own: it covers nothing and does not change the shade it is laid on. Satin in the name sets the resulting surface, that is, a semi-gloss between matte and gloss.
It is not a paint for painting camouflage or markings. It is a colorless layer for evening out a surface. A finished model tends to be mismatched once it is done: the camouflage areas have one surface, the markings a second, later work a third. A satin layer levels everything to one and the model stops looking like an assembly of different surfaces.
A matte surface matches field camouflage, full gloss matches demonstration and display machines. A real operational aircraft is mostly somewhere in between: the finish was matte, but service, washing and maintenance gave it a slight sheen, most markedly on the leading edges, around the filler ports and in the places the ground crew walked. A satin surface captures that state better than a perfectly matte area does. At the same time, the play of light on a large wing shows better on a semi-gloss area, where a completely matte surface would suppress even the shape.
For modelers who are finishing a model and want the surface under control rather than left to chance, and for everyone for whom neither a fully matte nor a fully glossy surface suits the subject.
Mix the contents thoroughly before use, close the bottle carefully after work and work in a well-ventilated space. Keep out of the reach of children.
