A modeling material of soft lead with a half-round cross section measuring 0.8 x 0.55 mm and 140 mm long; according to the manufacturer, the box contains approximately sixteen pieces. A half-round profile has one flat side, so the wire does not rest on the base at a single point as a round one does, but over its whole flat face. Thanks to that it holds more firmly, does not twist while it is being glued and looks natural everywhere a hose or a cable is supposed to look as though it really is attached to the surface.

Working the material

Lead bends with your fingers and keeps its shape fully once bent; it does not return. With a half-round profile, watch while shaping that the flat side stays turned toward the base; smooth-jawed tweezers help. Divide it with a scalpel by pressure or with side cutters. It is bonded with super glue, which thanks to the flat side grips practically at once, and on longer routes it is practical to fix the wire down gradually in sections. Before painting, degrease the surface and give it a coat of base color, otherwise the covering shade would hold worse on smooth metal.
