Summer meadow with small turfs is finished scenery growth from the Czech manufacturer Model Scene. It is not a kit and not a loose material — the area is simply laid against the base board, glued and its edges hidden. What is special about this version is the combination of two levels of growth: a continuous summer grassy area and small taller turfs that rise out of it. That is exactly what makes the result differ from a uniform grass carpet, on which the artificiality of a scene shows most.
The coloring matches summer — a full green with warmer, slightly dried-out tones in the taller clumps. The uneven height of the growth creates differences of light and shadow across the area, so the terrain reads as lively even without further additions. The meadow suits open areas between a track and a forest, untended gardens, field margins and the grassy surroundings of field buildings and parked vehicles.
Paint the substrate an earth tone, so that any gaps are not noticeable. Glue the growth on with PVA glue spread evenly under the whole area. Do not tear the edges to a straight line — a thinned-out irregular fringe works into its surroundings more naturally than a cut edge. Fill the transition to a track or to a structure with a fine scatter, soil and fine gravel. The scene will gain further if you add low bushes to the taller clumps and a tree in the background, which creates a natural grading of the growth. Once dry, the whole can be dusted lightly with pigment so that it matches the surrounding terrain.
This is a scenery accessory for building dioramas, not a model kit. The glue, the paints and the base board are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
