Pure Metallic Red is a pure red with a metallic sheen: the finish holds fine reflective particles, so the surface does not read flatly like an ordinary opaque paint but changes with the angle of view. The shade suits bodywork and cowlings where the finish is meant to look factory-applied, and equally small glossy elements that are meant to draw attention. The designation LP-46 places the paint in the same range as the other shades with the LP prefix.
The thinner and the thinning ratio follow the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging, and use the thinner intended for this range. Metallic shades have to be mixed properly before every use, because the particles settle at the bottom and an unmixed paint comes out uneven. Spray in several light coats and let the surface flash off between them. The base decides more than with opaque paints: a metallic shade brings out every score and every mark, so sand the surface smooth beforehand, wash it and degrease it. It looks best on a smooth, dry and uniform foundation.
A finish with metallic particles is harder to polish, because sanding disturbs the particles at the surface and the area goes matte. Apply any gloss varnish only after it has dried completely, and preferably in a thin coat. Peel masking tape off carefully and as soon as possible. Work in a well ventilated space and close the pot carefully after use.
The package contains the paint alone. Thinner, cleaner, brushes and spraying equipment are not included, unless stated otherwise.
