A Tamiya modeling paint of the LP range in a dark metallic iron shade, designation LP-54.
Responsibility details are not available.
The shade LP-54 Dark Iron from the Tamiya LP paint range. It is a dark metallic iron shade, that is a paint with the pronounced gray-black character of unpolished steel and cast iron. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio according to the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging, or use the thinner intended for this range.
Dark iron is one of the most widely used metallic shades. It serves on weapon barrels, on the tracks and road wheels of vehicles, on exhausts and their shields, on chains, hinges and tools, on propeller blades and their fittings, and everywhere bare metal is meant to show without the shine of chrome. It also works well as a base for later enlivening with graphite or metallic pigments.
Metallic shades contain heavier particles which settle in the bottle, so stir the paint thoroughly before every use and keep stirring it during work. Apply thin coats over a smooth base, because every scratch and stray brush hair stands out on a metallic surface. There is no need to clear coat metallic surfaces with flat varnish, because that suppresses the metallic look.
The paint suits models of vehicles, aircraft and ships as well as figures and dioramas. It will be appreciated above all by those who work with wear: dark iron is the basis for chipped edges, for wear on tracks and for the places where the finish has been rubbed off equipment down to bare metal. The model, thinner and application tools are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
