Resin tires in 1:32 scale for the Clarktor-6 Mill-44 airfield tug from the Thunder Model kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Clarktor-6 was an American airfield tug, that is a low four-wheeled machine that moved aircraft, bomb trailers and materiel carts around the airfields of the Second World War. It had no armor and no weapon, but it would pull many times its own weight, and its operator sat on it practically in the open. The version designated Mill-44 belongs to the variants that appeared with American units on both fronts. On the modeling scene the tug is rewarding precisely because, beside a large aircraft, it gives a diorama scale and action.
Replacement tires in resin in 1:32 scale, prepared for the Clarktor-6 Mill-44 tug kit from Thunder Model. Resin holds the shape of the tread and the sidewall more sharply than softened parts, and with it there is no worry that it will go soft in time or bond itself to the surrounding plastic.
The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary modeling cement does not work on them and super glue will make the joint. Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little way from the part and sand the remainder off carefully, so that the wheel beds down square. Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the surface. The tire of an airfield machine tended to be dusty rather than black, so after the base shade a light dry brush of pale dust along the edges of the tread helps.
For modelers who build airfield vehicles in 1:32 scale and want wheels with sharply legible tread detail. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the box, unless stated otherwise.
