The 90 mm size states the height of the figure, not a proportional scale as on models of machinery. On an adult figure it corresponds roughly to a scale around 1:20, so the figure is considerably larger than the usual figures for models in 1:35 and it is built above all for figure painters. The subject is one of the most famous personalities of world football.

What to expect from the 90 mm size

The larger size changes the whole approach to the work. The face, the hands and the folds of the clothing are large enough to take even fine shade transitions, wet blending and glazing. At the same time, at this size there is nowhere to hide an inaccuracy: every uncleaned parting line, air bubble or coarse transition of color can be seen at first glance. Figures of this class are therefore usually built slowly, part by part, and painted before the final gluing.

Building and painting tips

Wash the parts first in warm water with detergent, otherwise the remains of the mold release agent will spoil the adhesion of the paint. Go over the parting lines with a scalpel and fine wet-sanding paper. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue; for larger areas the gel version suits better, as it gives time to set the position. Before painting, lay down a thin base from a spray can or with an airbrush. Skin and fabrics are painted with a brush in layers, in acrylics or in oils; oil gives more time to blend the transitions. It is practical to split the assembly and join it only after painting.
